Terms of use
Effective October 20, 2026
These terms cover your use of Where's the Coffee? ("we", "us"), the website at whereisthecoffee.com. We are based in Alberta, Canada. Contact: info@whereisthecoffee.com.
Agreeing to these terms
By using the site or creating an account, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
The service
Where's the Coffee? gives grind setting suggestions, brew recipes, a brew timer and a cup log. It's free and provided as it is. We may change, pause or stop any part of it at any time, and we don't promise it will always be available or free of errors.
Suggestions are guidance only
Grind settings, recipes and adjustments are starting points based on published charts, our own testing, calculations and other people's logs. Grinders, beans and water vary, so your results will too. Use your own judgment.
Brewing involves hot water, pressure and sharp or moving parts. Follow your equipment maker's instructions and safety advice. Don't force a grinder past its range or adjust burrs in a way the maker doesn't allow. We are not responsible for damage to equipment, injury, or the taste of your coffee.
Your account
- Give accurate information, including a real email address you can access.
- Keep your password safe. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- An account is for one person. Don't share it or make accounts for other people.
- You must be at least 13 years old to make an account.
- Tell us at info@whereisthecoffee.com if you think someone else has used your account.
Acceptable use
Don't:
- abuse, harass or try to harm other people or the service;
- scrape or copy the site in bulk, or access it with bots or automated scripts;
- try to get into other people's accounts or data, or get around security or rate limits;
- interfere with or overload the service, or upload anything harmful;
- log false data on purpose to skew recommendations;
- use the service for anything illegal.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.
Your content
Your cup logs, notes and gear lists stay yours. You give us permission to store and process them to run the service for you. Unless you turn off "Share anonymous brew data", you also let us use your logs, combined with other people's and with no way to identify you, to tune recommendations for everyone. This permission is free and continues for grouped numbers already worked out, but we stop adding your new cups when you turn sharing off, and deleted cups stop counting.
Trademarks
Grinder and brewer names, brands and models (for example Comandante, 1Zpresso, Hario, Fellow and others) belong to their owners. We use them only to describe the equipment. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any of these companies.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, the service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of the suggestions.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of data, damage to equipment, or personal injury arising from following suggestions or using the service. Where we can't exclude liability, our total liability is limited to CAD $50. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.
Ending your use
You can stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing info@whereisthecoffee.com. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or if we stop running the service. Parts of these terms that by their nature should continue (such as the disclaimer and limitation of liability) still apply after that.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top, and for important changes we'll tell you in the app or by email. If you keep using the service after a change, the new terms apply.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute will be handled by the courts of Alberta.
