Good to know

  • Filter-only grinder. Timemore and retailers say to buy the 078S (stepless, espresso-capable burrs) for espresso. Don't use 078S charts for this grinder.
  • Dial: retailers describe 36 stepped positions. HCG's chart axis runs 0-18, so we read it as 18 numbers with a click at each half number. Not confirmed from a Timemore manual.
  • burr_travel_um_per_step (50 µm per number) is derived from beeancoffee's figure of about 25 µm per click, times two clicks per number. beeancoffee does not say where its number comes from. Home-Barista owners quote 5.6 µm (078S, from Timemore support) and about 30 µm per number (078S, measured thread pitch); those are for the stepless 078S and disagree with each other.
  • HCG lists the range as 370-1270 µm. zero_offset_um = 370 is the bottom of that range, an estimate, not a measurement.
  • HCG settings were read from search-result extracts of the HCG table (it loads with script). Only V60, pour-over and AeroPress rows were recoverable. beeancoffee suggests V60 around 7-12 (start at 9), AeroPress 4-8 and French press from 12; that disagrees with HCG, so not used.
  • Hopper about 30 g. Auto shut-off after about 60 seconds. Rotary knocker clears the chute; retention not published as a number.
  • Power (400 W), weight and size come from Café Liégeois's listing; we could not load Timemore's own product page to confirm.
