How to read the dial
Dial number, positions between numbers written as decimals, e.g. 1.5 = halfway between 1 and 2. 0 is finest, 10 coarsest.
Zero: factory-calibrated; 0 is the finest marked setting. Fellow lists a clean-and-calibrate step in the guide but does not say what 0 corresponds to.

Good to know
- Replaces the original Opus (fellow-opus). New 48 mm burrs and a stepless dial, so Opus settings do not carry over.
- Fellow prints its grind guide on the underside of the load bin lid and in the Getting Started Guide only as a graphic. No numbers appear in the text, so only the espresso range (from Fellow's FAQ, 'around settings 0-2') is listed here. Other methods use the formula with the estimated fit below.
- grind_um_per_step 115 and intercept -60 are a rough estimate, not a published chart. They are set so V60 lands at about 5-6.5, close to the 5-7 reviewers use (Coffee Chronicler), while keeping the coarse end near 9Bar Benchmark's ~1450 µm at 10 (DiFluid Omni) as far as a straight line allows. Treat every non-espresso recommendation as an estimate and dial in from there. Tuned 2026-10-23 at Anson's request (first fit, 130/26, put V60 at 3.5-5).
- zero_offset_um 180 is an estimate: the low end of the espresso guide range, since Fellow says espresso starts around 0. Fellow does not publish a micron range.
- nudge_steps 0.25 is an estimate. The dial is stepless, so any smaller move is possible.
- Fellow's FAQ also mentions '48 adjustable settings', which does not match the stepless dial. Treat the dial as stepless.
- Fellow: for darker roasts, pick a higher number within the recommended range.
- Reviewers' pour-over settings were around 5-7 (Coffee Chronicler). Not a published chart.
- Retention is listed as 'near-zero'. 9Bar Benchmark measured 0.3-0.4 g on a dry 18 g dose and close to zero with RDT. Coffee Chronicler measured 0.1-0.2 g. retention_g left null.
- Motor rpm is not published by Fellow. Coffee Chronicler lists about 400 rpm.
- A version with a wood lid and metal dial sells for USD 249.95.
