How to read the dial
Clicks counted from zero. Close the burrs fully (zero), then count clicks while turning toward coarse, e.g. 24 = 24 clicks open. With the optional Red Clix axle each click is half as big, so the same grind is roughly double the click count.
Zero: burrs touching (dial turned fully closed)
Red Clix (optional aftermarket axle by Comandante) roughly halves the step to about 15 µm and doubles the click count; Honest Coffee Guide keeps a separate chart for it with ranges up to about 80 clicks.

Good to know
- All settings assume the stock axle. If the user has Red Clix, use the Red Clix chart or roughly double these numbers.
- No numbers on the dial, so users must count clicks from zero. Losing count is the most common error; tell users to re-zero and count again.
- Range max of 40 is the top of the Honest Coffee Guide chart, not a hard stop. The dial turns further.
- Other published starting points disagree a little (reviewers give espresso anywhere from 7 to 15 clicks), so treat chart ranges as a starting point.
- zero_offset_um is an estimate.
